A leadership book for a strikingly different style of leader. Don't mind the cussing and the sass, there's great stuff in here.

Book still crushes.

Amazing so far. The technical writing skill is sensational. I’ve never seen a style quite like this. A wicked-fast read, I have to hold myself to two chapters at a time (trying to get back to reading print books in the morning before I start writing, as 99% of my reading g is audiobooks).

I got this in a swag bag at StokerCon 2024. So far it's a very fast read. The protagonist reminds me of many people I know.

The spookiness continues to build and I honestly don't know where Tingle is going with this -- which is great! The high school reunion scene is gutting; me heart breaks for the main character.

I finished this while ago and forgot to leave a review. What a fun book! This is my first LitRPG, so the whole genre was new to me. Matt crushed it.

I loved it. Taut storytelling, excellent characters, and impressive world building.

I'm so impressed with this book. I met Haskell at Dragon*Con 2023. We bonded over having books featuring an iconic warship and less-than-stellar crews. Frankly, I liked him, I liked the cover, so why not?

I'm halfway through and I'm blown away. Fantastic, character-driven military/sf. I hope it finishes just as strong.

I forgot to update this one. Another home run from Abercrombie. He is my favorite living writer.

There is some amazing stuff in this book. It's crushing, though, what Sagan saw coming, and how those concepts were either unavoidable or society just didn't care enough to stop them.

This book was not for me. Fantastic writing, very impressive descriptions, but the story was a bit less streamlined than I prefer.

I was listening to this only when I ran as a reward to myself for training for a half-marathon. Then I pulled a hammy, real bad — haven't run in a week and won't run for at least one more week, probably two, and won't listen until then. The suspense is killing me!

It was a bit of a slow start for me, but a quarter of the way in, this book is lights-out. Loving it.

I'm a huge Abercrombie fan. This series continues to deliver.

Enjoying this so far. The meticulous magic system is the backbone of this series, and is quite cool.

I'm heading into the final five hour of this book, and I have to say I think it is the best in the series since Book 1. Smith is doing a masterful job of shuffling the storylines and ratcheting up the tension.

I'm back in the world of airships, radioactivity and mutated monsters, and loving every minute of it.

I'm debating whether to finish this or not (2.5 hours left to go in the audiobook). It's good, but this series is not for me. I'm overwhelmed by the world building — too much detail for me to keep track of, maybe, without characters in those settings helping personalize the various elements and make things feel more real.

I’m wondering if something got left out of this audiobook — over halfway through and the monster-fighting Witcher has yet to fight a monster. The story is fun and the characters are excellent, but the constant info-dump world-building is getting onerous.

I am digging it so far. I'm fascinated by the author's tendency to show instruction via only one character (the one doing the training) speaking in long paragraphs, where the trainee's actions and responses are implied rather than spelled out. A very cool technique, although I feel it's a bit over-used.

I can see why this series is so popular. I'm looking forward to the rest of it.

Thus far, Kendi is interweaving his personal story with a comprehensive effort to define the terms he uses in his positions. I've learned several things I did not know about the origin of the Transatlantic slave trade.

While racism and its impacts are the primary underpinning of my Galactic Football League series, I realized yesterday that I'd never actually read a book about racism in America. I'm long overdue. This one topped several lists that are currently circulating, so I am starting here.

The book is still moving along at a solid clip. There is much gunfire. The USA is in bad, bad shape.

So far, this book hits like a hammer. It takes the concept of RED DAWN and shifts it to an all-internal American concept. Intense action, and powerful visuals of watching America collapse.

The language is a bit hard to process, but on the other hand, I am now using "thine" and "forthwith" very naturally in my day-to-day conversations
