I don’t think this is gonna be a favorite. Should’ve known the “lusting over my stepmother as a 12 year old boy” would make me absolutely uncomfortable.

I’m not a crier [nothing wrong with being one] but I rarely tear up when reading books, however, this is the second book by the same author that gets my emotions going, I tear up, I cry, my heart aches, the whole bunch. The way he writes emotions, prose and everything always astonishes me.

I’m feeling all kinds of sad.

i love the fool

Hisham Matar has become one of my absolute favorite authors. My plan is to read all of his work this year -inshallah-. I read his debut novel In The Country of Men earlier this year and fell absolutely in love with his writing.

This book has me underlining every sentence. Cannot wait to read more.
