I have always read stories made for, made by, and inspired by African Americans. Wanted to read more black stories and this looks like a banger

The relationship Ponyboy has with Soda and Darry has a lot of parallels to the relationship I have with my brothers. I’m glad that this book has so much emotional complexity in their characters. Like Darry, Johnny, and Dallas/Dally

Yeah I am DNF. I cant take this cringy ass dialogue no longer.

I am not really feeling this book. I don’t want to DNF a book so early in the year but the cringe dialogue, forgettable characters and the on the nose, unsubtle messaging of the themes is really tempting me to move on. I’ll read to page 100 or so and if I still don’t like this book, then I’ll DNF

Ok so I am going to this very popular book blind as I never even watched the movie that was based on this book. I was always interested in this book but I didn't pick up the nerves to read it till now. From the summary on the back of the book, it sounds it's going to be Teen Beach Movie (Goated movie btw) If it was made for adults.

Ok. This book is starting to lose me. It doesn't make sense that someone who Wes has described as saying homophobic things and quite literally almost blew up on a stanger for daring to wear nail polish... as a boy (Gasp) can all of a sudden have a rational conversation with their friend regarding their sexuality. Huh?!I get Nerada wanted this book to have a happy ending but the math gotta add up.
