“It is the insertion between man and his environment of a pseudo environment. To that pseudo-environment his behavior is a response. But because it is behavior, the consequences, if they are acts, operate not in the pseudo-environment where the behavior is stimulated but in the real environment where action eventuates.”

“For it is clear enough that under certain conditions men respond as powerfully to fictions as they do to realities, and that in many cases they help to create the very fictions to which they respond.”

“The only feeling that anyone can have about an event he does not experiences is the feeling aroused by his mental image of that event. That is why until we know what others think they know, we cannot truly understand their acts.”

“Whether they themselves believe in their public character, or whether they merely permit the chamberlain to stage -manage it, there are atleast two distinct selves, the public and regal self, the private and human.”

It’s interesting that American officers, underestimated the impact of ROK forces against the Inmun Gun and it wasn’t known until NKPA records were captured.

@0215 The engineers blew the bridge. “No one will ever know how many soldiers and civilians died in the explosion or were hurled screaming into the Han to drown. The best estimates indicate the number was near 1000.” Additionally, the premature destruction of the bridge stranded 44k men from divisions north and their artillery.

28JUN1950 @0130 The bridges over the Han River were to be destroyed. Just prior to that ROK Army became aware of just how many soldiers and equipment hadn’t crossed over yet. General Chang made every effort to delay the demo, driving to the bridge. Yet the roads were so packed he was delayed. On arrival (0214) he noted the bridge was packed with vehicles and people, likely thinking the engineers were waiting.

“Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even in death.
If, however, you are indulgent, but unable to make your authority felt… your soldiers must be likened to spoiled children; they are useless for any practical purpose.” Preface; Sun Tzu, The Art of War
