This is so well written and feels like a 90s romcom in NYC fall.

This started out interesting but when we got to a point where I just didn't like or respect any of the characters I hit a wall of disinterest. I disloke almost everyone.

This book was printed in 1993 but it doesn't actually feel like it. Even without the references to current technology. He has a pager , they use land lines and there is no internet. But it kinda reads like something current otherwise. Women aren't relegated to certain stereotypes at least not at this point in the book.
For people who hate reading about abuse and violence and death, this isnt your book.

So far I'm frustrated by this book. Here are the reasons. The idea has potential but lacks in delivery. It's a midevil story but lacks the correct language and details. Her trauma goes away within hours. There's no follow through with the moms condition. They literally spend no time together but the mains have huge feelings. The brother is this big enemy but he has no bite. It's frustratingly inconsistent.
