Enjoying this book so far. While the subject matter is heavy, it’s a light book. Julia Whelan is reading the female part and she’s always wonderful!

relating too much to Christina Applegate’s early childhood. Not lockstep but the feelings and some situations. I suppose it’s partly generational - only a year difference in age. While I experienced my own version of trauma; it wasn’t the same as Christina’s, but the emotions and some reactions were similar.
I’m early in this book but I’m fully in. Laughing, smiling, grimacing, reminiscing, despairing

So maybe I can set aside the digs at Stevie Wonder for being introduced to “Just Like a Woman” by Nina Simone and the conversation about Simone vs. Dylan’s version of that song. I thought she gave Fiona Apple her due as well.

Very early in and I think some of the descriptions of the songs are great. Struggling with her problems with Stevie Wonder, Sublime, and Rage though. Also digs at Sonic Youth. The Stevie Wonder stuff is really annoying me though. 70s Stevie Wonder cheesy????? “Songs in the Key of Life” worst album title? You don’t have to like his music but cheesy? No.
