we SPED through two chapters at lightning speed and I can mostly accredit all the recap from the first book that I’m able to skim really quickly. anyways these two chapters were REALLY FUNNY especially dobby. but i also find what harry has to endure because of dobby makes me feel so ANNOYED but so far it’s iconic and hilarious

mcgonagall rlly wants that house cup fr!!!!! measly 5 points after taking on the troll ??? also shoutout to whoever included Wizard Baruffio in this chap & Barmy last ch in hogwarts legacy!!!! little hogwarts historians at werk! also i liked seeing harry’s reactions to quidditch and comparing the “basketball” hoops to muggle bubble wands :) also RON IS SO SASSY OMG. nasty guy. but my fav is the end line!!!

mcgonagall works fast. inner harry monologue is underrated! NAURTY NAURTY YOULL GERTT CAURTY‼️ harry vs malfoy dialogue is actually so peak. ron HATES hermione. pacing was really good in this chapter! never considered they could get locked OUT if fat lady leaves the portrait.

alzheimer’s is a spiral.

hogwarts hogwarts hoggy warty hogwarts ! ☺️ i had no idea that the sorting ceremony was basically a ritual where you don’t really know what you’re getting yourself into! we love the seed planting with characters like the patil twins and lavender brown. also his scar hurting when snape looks at him: start of huge misdirection arc w snape!! also whispering quirrel turban telling him to go slytherin is cray🎩

i like the whole interaction hearing weasley lore and how they describe entering the platform. found mentioning of flamel on dumbledores card. DUDLEY HAD A PIG TAIL FOR A MONTH AND THAT’S FUNNY. cool to hear about the dursleys last interactions with him. “~ only platforms 9 and 10?? BYE HAVE A GOOD TERM.” also reminding myself of the first years boat dock in hogwarts legacy :>

long chapter for me. a lot happened in diagon alley: all the shops, meeting quirrell, draco, ollivander, hedwig. im interested in both drawing parallels that bring a new perspective to topics ik of now, like culture shock and exoticism, AND noticing more subtle details about side characters like quirrell backstory (btw he’s a twilight fan). loved how different the draco intro is in the book!!

OKAY. i’m through the reveal of “the woman” and am focusing on ethan’s reactions through it all, which are interesting… i also read (for the first time) about the crash. it was so heartbreaking how anna was mothering her daughter and ed in these last moments. that brings us to the reality of her calls w them… there’s one more twist i remember; can’t wait for what’s between!

i’m so glad i’m reading this book officially. it’s all starting to coming back to me. i wanna count how many times she says i need a drink and omg mixing her meds w alc. AND 4 IBUPROFEN IN 1 DOSE? y’all i didn’t realize how deeply embedded the unreliable narrator details were and i LOVE this style yum

three months of education under false pretenses.. hmm… i wonder if 3 months is gonna matter when there’s an impending doom and disaster on its way?

mercy faces racist comments and the anti chinese/asian society of 1906 america. she’s building herself opportunity; she made a deal to have an appt with the dean of admissions of the pristine white girls school. also her father is lowkey anti feminist talking about how “wives should be meek” but he also wants her to keep learning (there’s no hs in chinatown san fran) but not at the “white ghosts school”

interesting so far!!! the first 16 chapters are more simply an introduction and world building. i haven’t read anything that requires a ton of world building in more of a fantasy sense in a while, so i was a bit nervous about the level of detail i’d need to learn for the intro of the series. i think it’s doing a good job at easing you into it, and i definitely am interested!!

this is so boring. i’m not enjoying the back and forth povs of an entitled white 40yo millionaire lady and this constantly screwed over 16yo girl.

wow. i feel broken and tense one minute and the next i’m tossed between the most caring and understanding characters in the world. right now nate is full of anger and so frightful of losing stas. been there done that. anastasia is the only level headed one here. everyone else needs to go to therapy too!
