This happened about 40-50 pages ago but I LOVED the queen-off between Leia and Mara

As I end on the section with Sindri improving the bow, it’s really surprising how the dialogue changes in between this and the game. I wonder why they even decided to publish this as a book. I don’t believe they did the same with Ragnarok?

In the Alfheim section I just read, I’m so disappointed with the pacing. I’m conscious that this is the novelization, but it doesn’t feel as nearly as descriptive as I would’ve hoped as I’ve already played through this section of the game. Also, one of the more poignant moments between Atreus and Kratos regarding grief is agonizingly cut short and oddly placed. Sad!

Wow, to see how Han wants to protect Leia and ultimately secedes to her decision is really cool to read. It feels like a great reminder of admiration, love, and respect he has for her as his partner.

I don’t think Zahn wrote a ton of Threepio dialogue in Heir to the Empire (that I can recall, at least) but I really like how we gain Luke’s perspective on communicating with him.

Loving all the gaps this book bridges while also reminding you of the lore in the game. Beautiful balance, and I love the lore and will watch playthroughs of this game over and over but it’s also been a year since I’ve actually played the game all the way through myself.

I know Mara is Force-sensitive but it is SO funny to see her refuse to accept it and just grapple with it.

It just clicked that Mount Tantiss was a legends concept brought into canon…So cool.

The reference to Han in carbonite made me chuckle.

Maybe this is not a great comparison, but Luke and Mara remind me of Hercules and Meg from the Disney animated movie. Yes, I do know Luke and Mara eventually get together.

So interesting how protocol/procedurally-based Mara is in comparison to how Luke chooses to approach situations.

The implementation of Luke’s cybernetic hand is kinda genius what a way to connect the physical part of a character to strategy/plot.

Usually I don’t care for the smuggler/Han Solo sections but the one I read tonight was pretty fun to envision. Reminded me of the Castor scene in Tron Legacy

I can see why this is Legends now. There’s something of an era of time established on this page when Lando asks for some aged wine.

“He also told me that you were the one who found my X-Wing. Thank you.” This line is SO Luke Skywalker.

Interesting how Luke talking to Artoo compares to Leia talking to Chewbacca! I like how the thought isn’t directly translated, rather plainly stated after the reader learns he issued some type of responding sound.

I think it’s interesting how Zahn writes Luke interacting with Artoo…Makes me wanna go back to Jedi: Battle Scars and compare/contrast how Maggs writes Cal interacting with Beedee. Personally, I think I like to see a mix of glimpses into the droid’s thoughts in the text and also dialogue with the English-speaking character(s) that sort of translates that droid comment for the reader.

I really like the idea of Jedi hibernation while in hyperspace, I wonder if this was an idea that translated into Disney-canon.

Also, good lord can Zahn write some detailed scenes about ship mechanics/engineering. No clue if he’s being creative with it/making it up or what, but it’s just so believable.

Additionally, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the glossary of Star Wars terms authors were given!!!
