The author is a very engaging writer, she's promoting such a toxic relationship, so I'm conflicted. Like what do you mean that the guy doesn't want to see hi to the girl in public because he's embarrassed to be seen with her? He's high key using her. I'm not a big fan of romance for this reason. I should have read the premise, but now I am invested so we will see if it gets better.

Reading this to educate myself more before my internship. I would say I’m pretty knowledgeable on blood, skin, prostate, and press, cancer; however, I definitely do need to learn more about lung cancer and tobacco use. Hence this book.

Did not read the description before I started reading. I just knew it was a popular book, so it has been interesting to say the least.

So far I absolutely love this novel. The author can make even the most mundane scene funny. & you can’t help but love the quirky main character. Pages are very long though so takes a bit to get through. Plus lots of new vocab words that I’m adding to my repertoire

Needed to note this chapter bc I loved it so much (Disneyland). The mention of lack of reality in corporations and the government!! & the relation between the Ancient Greeks and American government is what a wrote my first research paper on, brought me back. Personally don’t think this chapter will be topped for me. Anti laissez-faire and mention of nation-states I rate that chapter 5 stars!

Love the mention of the quantum theory of energy and how that is how individuals subconsciously are drawn to each other. Based off similarities with our own energetic imprint.

Notes for book club:

-how historical art and structures is a dichotomy within itself
- scent being as powerful of a memory as a photo
- hope despite climate change. Even one individual can make an impact

- The idea came from the European colonization of Africa and India
- Windward side of the mountains lands were preferred over religious land due to agricultural appeal.

Love how she covers the importance of attachment styles and develop of different nervous system from childhood. A good refresher from my childhood development class a few years back.

I think it’s interesting how well someone with sociopathy can practice mindfulness. Like since they have the lack of emotion, they can easily observe their thoughts and impulses without judgment.

Love the ethical qualms that the author raises such as further to be good in the world they also needs to be bad, like there needs to be opposing forces. I definitely do not agree with the most if not all, but I do like to challenge my own viewpoint.

Notes:

“Actually the good and bad things that happen give us a great opportunity to connect to with the world and with others “

Knowing an outcome can be as equally unsettling as uncertainty

Even when we learn it’s likely we will forget it and have to learn it again

Seeing love as intentional actions instead of a feeling.
