Intro is fire🔥🔥🔥
"When we read, for instance, that 'the just shall live by faith,' Martin Luther is whispering at our ear how we are to interpret those words-and this is true even for those of us who have never even heard of Martin Luther. When we hear that 'Christ died for our sins.' Anselm of Canterbury sits in the pew with us, even though we may not have the slightest idea who Anselm was."

Ch. 8 just blewww my mind🤯🤯🤯

Ohhh babyyy...this is gunna be good

Already so good🥹

What a great book🥹

What a great book!

How are we to view the text of Scripture? Is it just a springboard to Christ as it is utilized by a preacher? Or does the text itself contain and predict Christ? Do we need the Quadriga and its four senses to see Christ in the OT? Or is Christ actually there in the words of the OT?
Marsh coming in hot🔥

Good stuff on vocation

This section had some 🔥🔥🔥 stuff on the promise

"Our Heavenly Father won't stop either. He won't stop trying to help us see ourselves the way He sees us [namely, righteous in Christ]" (93-94)🥹

So good!

Law-Gospel baby!...But, seriously, very helpful and convicting.

Really helpful and convicting preface. Ecclesiastes certainly cuts against my perfectionistic desires in life.

This is such a sweet book🥹

Already so good!🥲

"This notion, 'one myst be circumcised and observe the Law,' cannot be completely banished from us; but it remains in the hearts of all godly people. [There is] a perpetual struggle between the hearing of faith and the works of the Law, because the conscience is always murmuring and thinking that when...eternal salvation [is] promised solely on the basis of hearing with faith, this is too easy a way."
-Luther on 3:2
