On my Sylvia grind. About halfway through the non-appendix and index material. Her rebounding from Sassoon to Hughes will never fail to astound me, and entries have become far more expositional.
She’s serving her purpose, though, as my own journal entries are getting longer and better.

Winter 1955-56 - Sylvia’s thoughts on winter in England are reminiscent of mine on winter in the PNW, and she continues to feed the spiral characteristic of high-achieving artists. Thus, she’s hardly ever pleased, and knows temporary antidotes, “theater, light, color, paintings, wine and wonder,” (193) but remains searching for a more powerful pull out of frigid despair.
