Dear Goodsreads. Its been a few weeks since my last confession. Maybthe lord forgiveth. I have been binge watching Better Call Saul and been keeping busy with filming and editing. Though I believe it was not in vain as I have been making notes whilst watching better call saul. Studying the dynamics of how it was shot as well as proper binging fuck out of it. Anyways. Read some pages today.

Reflecting a bit after putting down the last book no more than an hour ago has had me realise that chasing/attaining goals and achieving certain things has made me more emotional in the sense that I may becoming too attached to things that aren't within my control. So, I thought I'd pick this back up and read a few pages.

Lucky for me. I don't live in a time nor a place where resources are scarce, so I can/have learnt skills from the internet through tutorials and watching and reading other masters if the fields I want to master in which how they work. Crazy how Atomic Habits and this book go hand in hand. According to Robert, right now, I'm an apprentice, but there are stages in apprenticeship, and that gives me more optimism.

Did little to no reading this weekend, spent time with family away, and watched loads of football. However, at the same time, I made up for it by managing some writing and filming, the stuff I wanna master.

Man, the amount of words per page is fucking ridiculous. In an average book. One page of this cunt of a book could be anywhere from 2 to 3 pages. Only read 5 pages in the space of like 40 mins. Got a sick quote though:

"In order to master a field, you must love the subject and feel a profound connection to it."

DaVinci was mocked once by Michelangelo himself for being slow. My takeaway from these pages are to be obsessed and, sometimes, take your time. There's something inside everyone that makes us get pulled towards a certain thing. It's something words can't explain.

Plato once said, "Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow."

Don't let the voices of others infect you.

Tell you what, it may only be 318 pages but its a fucker of a book. Bare words per page, and I read slow as shit. So far, so good. Robert Greene is using the word in this first chapter 'obsession' on how DaVinci carried himself with his inventions, experiments, and projects, and it's already inspiring.

Would've read more, but proper tired me, fasted, went to get photos developed, and been busy writing. Will finish tomorrow. Current opinion. Still 10/10, even though this app only lets you rate up to 5? Bit queer like.

(It's pride month I can say it, its old english for odd, I'm proud that understand some old English).

Didn't read a great deal because I'm knackered, but I read nonetheless. Went to the library and finished another script (changing your environment will change your likelihood of creating a new habit). Finished another draft of a video and watched Full Metal Jacket, and instead of just watching it to pass time, was picking up/taking shot ideas. Don't think today would have gone this way if this book remained unread.

Only read 11 pages this evening. But, small habits that compound over time. It was automatic. As soon as I crawled into bed, I picked it up.

I've learned that although there are bad habits and good habits, some habits that seem bad, like procrastinating, can be manipulated to being a good habit. Gonna watch a movie now which might be seen as procrastinating, but I'm going to pay attention to the cinematography.

Didn't read all weekend, so I read a few pages before I go kippo, was quite a busy weekend (productive, somewhat this book helped highlight this).

Surround yourself with like-minded people who equally want to improve themselves (in whatever aspect in their life, doesn'thave to be the same as you), surround yourself with people who are better than you, and have something in common with you. Imitate winners, not gimp losers.

"Before we can effectively build new habits, we need to get a handle on our current ones. This can be more challenging than it sounds as once a habit is rooted in your life, it is mostly automatic. If a habit remains mindless, you can expect to improve it. As the psychologist Carl Jung once said, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.""
