The dichotomy between Tella and Evangeline is palpable. They’re so similar and yet so different. It’s kind of masterfully done. -> I think Jack’s just realized that too with the Poison joke.

I just got this book in the mail today and I was distracted by how pretty it was that I started reading the forward, and then I thought I might as well read it since I started.

It’s kinda refreshing to see a prince have to marry to claim his throne.

Also it’s pretty crazy Jacks met her first.

Oh wow, that’s sneaky Jacks. But I do get the tragedy of the cards he’s been dealt. This is the sort of fated trope I adore to be honest.

I love that the climax is Scarlett and Julian.

I think Jacks is an allegory for substance abuse in this novel.

I think that my understanding of the difference between envy and jealousy as well as what the consequences of envy actually is are lacking. The first chapter really illuminated those truths to me.

I’ve grown to become conflicted about Tom Bombadil. On one hand, he’s kind of harmless and the concept that since he’s outside the realm of Middle Earth that he would not be tempted by the ring. But on the other hand, there is nothing I hate more in a book than the removal of consequences. And Tom Bombadil saves the hobbits from dying in a way that felt particularly cheap to me. So idk….ill have to sit on it

I think Tom Bombadil is alright so far. Why does everyone hate him lol

I think this book leans a little more into the fantastical magical elements in the Letters of Enchantment Duology. It’s good but definitely different.

Vincent and Matilda have my heart so far.
