Heavy stuff. I empathise with Norma so much but at the same time she can be so self-absorbed, wow. My reading speed's also been lowered, I'm having trouble getting through this book now.

I find the plottwist a bit tasteless, though I will admit I did not see it coming!

What on earth was that focus on thinness/tiny waists/eating a salad in the beginning? Holy ED batman...

Hm, interesting writing style. It flops between telling and showing so far, and it leans towards the type of 1st person POV I tend to dislike. I'll give it until 20% before I update again.

DNF. Not bad, just not interesting enough to continue reading either.

Hm. Like the premise, not so much the writing style. We'll see.

Another quick little update.
1. I have become actuely aware how much my background in English lit is influencing my opinion. I can see how the characters may seem pretentious to others, but speak to some theater or Eng Lit majors and you'll see...
2. I'm sensing some Oliver/James. Curious to see where this goes!

I had to double check whether the writer was British or American, because the novel is set in the US but some specific words/phrases sounded very English. It could have been due to the characters practicing Shakespeare but.... (and I was semi-right, US author who studied in London for a while + studied English Lit!).

Okay I was WRONG.

Placing my bet on Richard murdering someone (either on purpose or accidentally) and Oliver taking the blame.
