Needed a fun, easy read—was craving some fiction/fantasy. So far, this is a nostalgic addition to a beloved series.

Stopped the required reading for the book here. The author—of course—has a more scientific and less creative writing perspective, but attempts to paint an elaborate portrait of a model narrative. His writing gets the job done and is quite successful with addressing all the minute details involved in foster care, but the attempts at creating a story fell flat in some ways for me.

God is continuously rejected. The Spirit lies heavily upon David, and the majority loves him for it. But because of the Spirit, David always wins, angering Saul. By rejecting David, Saul rejects God because His Will is being done through David. Psalm 59 depicts the hardship that accompanies faith in God—humanity’s pushback against righteousness.
