Why is this silly video game themed book making me bawl my eyes out?

"There were no deaths, but he did set fire to a few storehouses" Didn't the dragon burn through lines and lines of archers and musketeers and bash trough all the coastel defenses to get to the city??? The archers don't die when they burn??
Also, isn't the tower it landed on completely fucked?

I didn't expect so much nuance in the depiction of gender and sexuality (that feels historically accurate as far as I know) in a fun little pirate story

Unsure but curious about this one

I I love this book, it's even better the second time around
