While reading the parts when Kokoro was just starting junior high school and getting bullied, I remember a mean girl in my class in first grade in elementary, who told a newfound friend of mine not to be friends with me and not to hold hands with me, and said those words right in my presence as well.

I am currently enjoying and appreciating Kazuo Ishiguro’s language. Realistic, full of warmth and very apt. It’s been YEARS since I read my last Ishiguro book (the last time was when I had to write a paper on colonialism on two of his works back in grad school) so that was like, 10 years ago?! Damn I’m old.
