It's a fantastic slow burn with a massive galaxy spanning thousands of inhabited planets, and the world building looks top-notch. Easily, I can see this being my top read for 2026. I'm going to binge on this series for the next few months into completion. Such a splendid space saga.

The first 50 pages had me thinking, what the heck is going on. If I had a dollar for every time the word 'statue' was said, whew!

Anyhow, fast forward to 100 pages, and I can see where this is going. The writing is poetic, elegant, and divine. I can see why this book has such glowing reviews. It's a short read at 200 pages. Profound seems to be the word.

Infinite possibilities of varying degrees of screw-ups and a more entertaining dungeon than the first. There are darker undertones underneath the flesh of humor here. This looks like another super read.

Addictive stuff, and because it's a game based world, possibilities are endless without having to have a step by step logic to it. I think it's Borderlands without the televised version and is happening underground. I love the descriptions of boss battles and how each foe has an informational pop-up.

Holy shit! I can be flippin through this. The only thing is that every now and then, I get an urge to pick up a video game to play. I love Princess Donut.

Heading for an insane finish. I hope it doesn't pickle out. The tension and realistic approach to danger is refreshing. Glad to not have young people doing stupid things in the face of mortal peril.

Quick story, super creepy killer and non-stop tension up until now. Just hope it wraps up as good.

Playing out like a hard-boiled revenge story involving veteran killers on both sides, not to mention the writing is top-notch.

Quickly moving, violent at its heart and regrets following in the wake. So far, 5 star.

Sheer grit of the Spartans. Mind numbing self discipline, self torture of the body's limits to a degree of immense strength and their everyday life so brilliantly depicted in this book, the movie 300 pales by a long shot.

Told from the perspective of Xeo, an asylum seeker turned Spartan, this is a story of unflinching dedication and utter fearlessness in the face of certain death. So far, so fucking good.

Heart poundigly good. Michael Connelly does write simple step by step detective work so good. Harry Bosch is as solid as always. Not one dull page and no wasting words.

Victor Methos writes some genuinely fast-paced, heart racing thrillers. No-nonsense action and grit delivered unerringly.

The constant self-loathing and whining of Jacob is getting irritating. So far in and I just wish to get it through. The only books I have felt such before were those of James Patterson, defying logic, slow as heck, and stupidity over the top.

I really hope the last 40% rachet it up because I sure am soldiering through this one even though every part of my brain asks me to delete it off the Kindle.

It looks like we are trudging through a wild landscape with battles brewing all across Epheria. Various factions, empires, gods, uraks, dragons, elves, dwarves, creatures of different planes all vying for something and seems set for a bloody gory end. I can already imagine the breathtaking rampage that the final unreleased book to be. We would be lucky to get one more Novella in between this and Gods and Ashes.

Sometimes pacing along like a maniac & other times trudging along. I think I do not like Dahlen as a character. He is just way too noble and nerdy. I think Joe Abercrombie has spoilt me with his myriad characters of various shades of grey & cunning, especially with - The First Law Trilogy.
