Super lighthearted and slowly loving that it kinda just throws you into the story? 3 chapters in and I really do feel that I know the main character well

I don't think I've read a book this fast since I was a kid. I was lucky enough to hear Julia Riew speak at a panel at ComicCon about this book, and get a free copy at an after party today. I've never felt so immersed into a story, let alone one that is very distinctly fantasy. It's a beautiful read so far and it did make me cry on the train home. Almost 250 pages in less than 2 hours, I've never read so fast before

The MMC is becoming not hateable but it feels like video game references are being thrown into this at the weirdest times and it doesn't feel natural

Somewhat alarmed on how much toilet humor is used in this - also not loving the potential love interest, he just seems like an asshole and she's fangirling over him
