I did tear up on the northern line finishing this but I think I’m just tired lol

Wasn’t sure ab the format at first but got used to it and it’s v sweet so far

Interesting how they make it such a big deal that Nina is not conventionally attractive, and then for the film they casted… Amanda Seyfried?? lol

For a political ecology theory book … pretty good tbf

I’ve never read Foucault …. And I hope I never have to

I should probably focus on my PhD but oh well I missed reading books (reading a novel written by a man just to mix it up …. Already kind of bored with 2/3 of the main characters being male though lol)

Feels like reading someone’s diary :’)

Can’t wait to read a fiction book again … perhaps in October : - )

incredibly written but devastating, many quite graphic violent scenes (but based on real accounts of the Gwangju Uprising so entirely justified imo)

This is very violent and very sad which …. is not a shock but is still A Lot !

Lightly confused but in an enjoyable way

This is good practice for me to try to enjoy books bc the story is good even when none of the characters are likeable lol

Middle part of the book is very ~ meta ~ which confused me at first but was quite interesting

I fear fictional depictions of ecologists will always make me cringe 😭

Just some light airplane reading 🙂

Awww cuuute

What a treat to read a book that doesn’t refer to a minimum of 3 French philosophers or Karl Marx !

After procrastinating reading this book for the last 6 years, I spent half of the workday today reading it ! It is by far the most lucid book of hers I’ve ever read, but I still would not recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have a professional reason to suffer through it :) unfortunately for my ego, I will be citing this in chapters 1, 4, and 6 of my thesis :-)

Already the best book of hers I’ve read so far

She’s just writing with pure vibes no structure / plot / character development lol

T e a r s

Stressful and chaotic reading experience but v impressive novel and also feel like I learned new things ab the wars post Indian independence

I has taken multiple months and many books read in the meantime, but I have finally become captivated by this overwhelmingly complex story

So far this is hilarious omg the “testosterone autism” chapter really made me laugh

Zadie Smith’s introduction alone … excellent

3.5? I keep hoping I will love one but I fear pop science books are just not for me because there is no room for genuine consideration of nuance or complexity (which is not really the fault of the authors)

Using Norway ( / Scandinavia in general) as an example of an ideal of better functioning society is soooo lazy because Norway is extremely homogenous and > 90% white ?? Lame

Enjoying the anti Dawkins / Diamond vibe but idk if he’s really convincing me of anything so far

Crying on the sofa at 8am finishing this omg

Main takeaway so far: Agnes is sooo cool
