End Part 3: RIP Elhokar. That part made me pretty sad. Moash destroyed me. Dalinar’s past is sad too. This whole part being a tragic subplot has been surprising. Although with it only being part 3 of the book, I guess it should have been expected. High Marshall Azure is very interesting to me. And the Queens references to Gavilar’s mysterious mission also interested me. I hope the gang can survive shadesmar.

End Part 2: lots of exposition and early development of story arcs. I guess Book 2 wrapped up most of the exciting plot points from Book 1 and now he needs to start over.

Shallan and Jasna were frustrating. It’s like all of Shallan’s development from Book 2 is getting erased. Although I can relate. Moash makes me sad. His chapters were interesting. The explanation of the heralds was satisfying though! Nice!

End Part 1: the sub plot with Shallan finding the lady in black monster felt like the opening arc of a video game. Haha! I enjoyed the mystery though. Kaladin visiting his family and traveling with the parshmen was a good little story as well. I was surprised to see “Wind Runner” parshmen though. This is going to get complicated. And Adolin’s secret is eating me up. I hope things turn out okay for them. Yikes!

End Part 5:

Kaladin reclaiming his oaths was epic. The showdown with the Assassin in White was even more epic.

Taravangian is a crazy character. The plot revel at a the end of the first book was wild. And the additional plot reveals during this book were very interesting. And now that Moash is getting involved…

Adolin smoking Sadeas at the end shocked me! I hope it doesn’t destroy him in the next book.

End Part 4:

Kaladin’s lost relationship with Syl is heartbreaking. I hope he can find a way to restore his oaths. I like the idea of powers being grated based on obedience to oaths. There is something very religious about that for each of us.

Moash’s being set to be a terrible monster is scary. The foreshadowing is worrying me…

Shallan’s back story is pretty dark. The murder scene made me squirm!

End Part 3: “Honor is Dead” hit way harder than I was expecting it to. The reveal about Amaram’s Shard Blade and Shallan’s brother was shocking!

Shallan’s spy operations are a fun storyline. And her cautious, yet innocent escapes from death keep me on my toes as a listener.

Kaladin’s epic rise and tragic fall at the end of part 3 was crushing! I just want the truth to be revealed for him. So sad 😭

(SPOILERS)

End Part 2: RIP Tyn. I saw the foreshadowing about who Tyn really was from a mile away. Plus she was kinda annoying. Holy cow though, the confrontation between them was thrilling! Shallan has a dark side and her story is kinda crazy!

Kaladin taking on the assassin in white was epic too! Again the subtle foreshadowing with the swords master tipped me off, but I still loved the action. It was wild!

End Part 1: Shallan’s moment in the “Open Flame” chapter surprised me Big Time. Don’t read ahead if you don’t want spoilers. RIP Jasna….

Kaladin’s section was pretty chill, but the drama introduced at the end with Brightlord Amaram also surprised me. This is going to be interesting to see how Kaladin approaches the situation.

Shallan: holy cow, the soul caster plot twist at the end totally got me. And the subtle truth bomb about her father was crazy!
Szeth: this was the most Sanderson style plot twist so far. The satisfying way that all of the pieces fell together discovering who Szeths master was blew my mind. Wow.
Hoid: I had to go back and read the prologue. This was an exciting cliffhanger for the rest of the story. Crazy!

End Part 4: Wow, this certainly had some epic battles. The final plot piece with Dalinar and Elhokar was surprising! And of course the climax with Sadeus’s Betrayal and the Dalinar’s confrontation was epic. The scene where he sacrifices Oathbringer in order to purchase the bridgemen was very satisfying as well. I just hope Kaladin and Dalinar and bolster a good relationship in the future. Very exciting section.

End Part 3: holy cow. Kaladin’s background being filled in is astonishing and intense! And Shallan’s story arc plot twists have been crazy as well. I can’t believe she stole it in the first place, and I definitely can’t believe that she gave it back. Wow. I believe this is what they call the Sanderlanche 👀

That interlude 6 was kinda crazy. I’m very interested to learn who this szeth person is and what the heck a Truthless is. Why is this guy so powerful and what kinda damage is he going to cause moving forward. Wild.

End Part 2: wow. There were lots of excited developments in this part, however, it still felt like it was primarily more exposition. For example I don’t know if the war with the Parshendi is the central conflict, or if the character’s internal struggles are. Or maybe (almost certainly) there is something grander and more nefarious lurking in the background waiting to be introduced.

I am invested to learn more.

End Part 1: Kaladin’s story is as depressing as all the memes make it out to be. However, the turn around at the end of part one was encouraging. What is the army fighting for? How did Kaladin get betrayed? What is his objective besides protecting his fellow bridge men?

Shallan’s story is an interesting contrast. Was her dad the king from the prologue? Will she carry out her plot? Or will she find another way?

End Prolougue: this is a fresh world with new ideas compared to mistborn and the other Brandon Sanderson books I’ve read this year. The magic was interesting to whiteness and I’m curious to learn more. The world was interesting as well. Hopefully this book turns out good.

End Part 2: this part had some exciting action! The sting operation was interesting, as well as the bigger set for the conflict between shards. The ending of this part with Wax’s sister set up the coming arc well. I am excited to learn more secrets and see what happens next.

End Part 1: I was not expecting such a large time gap. I think Wayne’s financial investments are a funny plot line. The conversation with Harmony at the end setting up the main plot arch was kinda crazy too. The cosmere is bigger and more interesting than I thought it would be for sure. Arcanum u bound really prepared me well for this one.
