Byron is reading Bully Able Leader: The Story of a Fighter-Bomber Pilot in the Korean War
Very interesting reading for me as my father was one of those F80 pilots lost in Korea. I was very interested in those events surrounding his crash on January 23, 1951. General Loving didn't let me down. I only wish he'd been part of the 80th instead of the 49th so I might have learned much more about Dad's circumstances.

If you're not into that level of detail you might find this book a bit tedious.

Excellent history of the search for the answer to one of the most important problems of the 18th century. Every sailor, explorer, and student of naval history should read this book.

Byron is on page 18 of 151 of The Strange Interlude of the Tree in the House: An Outer Cape Cod Off-Season Companion
Having just read the introduction and first "column" I can't offer any kind of in-depth assessment. But I like what I've read. If the rest of this book is as good as the opening it will be one of the finest I have read. Basically, it's a reflection on life from the perspective of a small town on Cape Cod - the kind of thing Steinbeck would have written if he hadn't been a California boy.

Byron is 30% done with Ghost Fleet: A Novel of the Next World War
Readable and somewhat entertaining if only because it mentions vulnerabilities in our military that I might not have otherwise considered. Not nearly the quality of One Second After or even a Clancy novel. It's like kissing your sister - compelling but not satisfying.
