I’ve thought about quitting this book several times already. This wackiness is not cute or funny.

Page 86: I’ve almost quit this book ten times already. Why am I still reading it?

I hope Deaver is considering a spin-off for his mysterious new hero, Lyle Spencer. I’d read that!

P. 26. Well, now that she lost weight and got a nose job, we have a female lead worth cheering for. Am I going to regret picking up this book?

How in the hell does a police officer hold her baby in the car instead of putting her in the car seat? (P. 186) I almost can’t continue reading this now.

I cannot decide if I should give up on this book or keep going. So strange.

P. 56. The character was given an ID badge and notes, "I am proud to be a librarian." And now I hate the book. Does and ID badge make you a lawyer or doctor or firefighter? Way too many authors take this liberty.

It's extremely rare that I stop reading a book without finishing it, but life is too short. This seems to be a love it or hate it book, and I'm in the latter camp.

Oooh - when you get to page 6 and see the book has started on the same calendar day you started to read it.

I really want to like this book, but he's thrown the word "librarian" around a lot and finally says, "I don't have a degree in library science." Then he goes on to say, "I possess both the skills and motivation to be a successful prison librarian." Well, why did I waste all that time and money on a Master's Degree when all I needed was skills and motivation? Grr.

I just started the book but I'm so happy to be reading Stephen King again. He's a master at writing characters!

Imagine my surprise when I got to page 282 and read, "they went into the kitchen the way a dreamer enters into a dream, slowly at first, then all in a rush." Isn't this an awful lot like the popular The Fault in our Stars quote, "I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once."?

100 pages in and I've lost track of how many times baby hands were compared to stars or starfish, but I'm enjoying the story.
