Not especially well written but entertaining retelling of Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Jack and the Beanstalk. These are not yourun-of-the-mill fairytale princesses. For exzmple, Ella and the prince have known one another for years before the ball, and Hansel and Gretl are not even siblings. But the stories are kind of inventive and appropriate for middle schoolers.

I love Wally Lamb. His stories are engrossing, his language is precise, but the way he understands and manages his characters just touches my heart.
