Still about 75 pages left to go

We are getting constant updates about this guy's horn level. As someone who grew up idolizing John Waters I hate to say I'm not enjoying this very much.

So far this is sort of like Anne Tyler writing a horror novel and I'm all about it.

Great start. Really enjoying fine atmosphere in this creepy detective story.

When you see a chapter in a Russian history book is called "The Worst Winter" you know it is going to deliver serious misery, but damn. I expected the mudslides and amputation, but I was not expecting frozen penises breaking off and complaints about Cossack squads of "wanton sluts"

(eyes narrow) if. this. turns out. to be nothing but a damn shaggy dog story I will be so sore!!

Cal says he's good with his hands! And next time they bump into each other in the shelter taking cover from a rainstorm on the moors he is going to show him😁

Yaayyyy

Sure enjoyed the invention of modern AI systems here with the generation of swarming "ghost" detectives out of old novels and tv episodes.

Quotes pop out non stop. Just love it so much.

This is like a parody of Clive Barker

Fun

Revisiting this book for the first time in 30 years I'm finding a training manual for the young codependent.

The destruction of the "valuable" cupid figurine has been discovered. Poor Jasper gets massaged like old bread dough every time our narrator doesn't know how to respond. So he's really in for a beating when Maxim calls Mrs Danvers in to get to the bottom of this drama and won't let Miss Thing run away to escape her mortification.

So nice to revisit this classic both for itself as well as a beautifully constructed novel to escape the series of short stories I've been trying to read lately.
