As a preteen I was obsessed with the movie for years. And this became… on of those books I could not put down. Every childhood romanticized vision of the south.. I love and loath Scarlett. My heart breaks for Rhett. But ultimately this book just became one of my favorites. The kind you can’t put down, and mourn that it is over.

Backman delivers again. This could be my new favorite. As always, you fall instantly in love with each character their flaws, their vulnerabilities and their heartbreak. You will laugh out loud with statements like “I am as dangerous as a meatball”. Very similar feeling as Anxious People - it will leave you happy and believing in people and beauty.

Perfect way to start the holiday season!

So I am trying this again. I absolutely hated it in grade school, - being the reason I hate science fiction and it is in my list of most loathed books ever... Right there with Old Man and the Sea and Moby Dick. But my passionate hatred has inspired someone else to read it and since its been like 30 years... I guess I will revisit.
