Okay halfway through the book it got better but still the story is so messy?? i’m not really a fan of the tropes in this book and it could be executed better imo. but ngl their farewell letter made my heart sting (im like a masochist)

(7) both of them are GOOD. like how am i supposed to choose!?? so far YC has gotten more moments and descriptions so obviously im going with him but HY? he’s got potential as well. and HES THE JADE PROTECTOR?? he’s been by her side for 9 years?? bro. the lore goes deeper there, how will i ever take a side? either make one ML hateable (apollo cough) or just don’t create a second ML at all UGHH i cant stand it

(6) but like dude YC has given you every reason to NOT distrust him. i guess.. im naiver than her. maybe she’s doing the right thing?? maybe YC has other intentions? (i doubt it.. why would anyone spend so much time developing and describing how hot a character is if he will end up being the villain?)

like.. please i felt like watching some teens (maybe that’s what they are). anyways this takes me to AY’s hatred towards Mó, its totally understandable the way she acts

(4) but i’m just halfway there!! maybe his reasons and backstory will be revealed later on but it’s just a complain. i don’t like things happening just because it needs to happen, I WANT REASONS. I want to see the whole process: meeting, knowing, teasing, falling, yearning, loving. + sometimes their convos are.. cringe. like i don’t even know why they’re arguing about something so trivial.. it could go like

(3) - Okay i’m a sucker for men like Yù’chén specially his “Mm” “Hmm” “May I?” UGH what a gentleman, but i don’t get why he’s so obsessed with AY? they’ve met for a short time and while the tension is there and i don’t complain, there lacks something *more*. it just doesn’t make sense to me why he’s so good to her and always protects her, it kinda seems like he was only made for that..

(2) there are some problems with this book. and personally it’s getting annoying.
- Àn’yīng ALWAYS talks about her motivations and goals to protect her family. i get it, she misses them, she needs to remind herself why she’s there but it gets to a point where i couldn’t care less if she mentions Mā or her sister out of nowhere. it loses its importance, and more when it’s brought up in random moments

So I started this book for the ambience and aesthetic it holds. I wanted some chinese type of fantasy and even the author mentions cdrama in her dedication! It was interesting at first, i was a bit taken aback for the names, wasn’t really expecting her to include the accents as well but i guess it helped me to get more immersed in the story. i could see the words she meant and i got most of the references. but (1)

i wanted some interaction with Ash hehe.. i mean, guessing that most of the events are kinda leading to her ‘perfect life’ we can take for granted that Nora went and asked him for that coffee date right?? GOSHHH

maybe the midnight library is real?! and that’s why some suicidal people doubt during the moment of letting it go (i know it’s just our body’s natural instinct), but it would be crazy if all of that happens less than a second. oh boy this is such a good theory, my kids will hear about it. learned a lot and highlighted many quotes as well, author knows how to express stuff i can’t put in words!! one last thing

when life is hard on you.. it’s good to have something to remind you that there’s beauty in pain, in happiness, in people, in love, IN YOU. there’s beauty in life. and even more in the small details!! was already obsessed with butterfly effect games - how choices lead you to different paths and this book is a light fun read about it! deffo one of my best non-fantasy reads (well this is kinda sci-fi, who knows?

4.75⭐️ Nearly 5 even!! Towards the middle it got a little boring because i felt like some lives were fillers but i was pleased to see how it all connected in the end! the whole point of introducing storylines and new characters for them to be used for something finally). The ending was REALLY good, read it all in one go, couldn’t stop. Love Nora’s character development. It might be an idealistic ending, but

YESSS. Ash. when he first appeared he immediately reminded me of ZAYNE. how could he not??? he’s so alike to him, a literal surgeon, from his nerdiness to his husband material vibes, gosh i swear Nora would be so strong to return to her old life because i would nevuuuhh!!!

Ya me lo acabé! Es muy buen libro, la tensión entre Axlin y Xein ahhh, ambos siguen preocupandose por el otro aunque traten de ignorar sus sentimientos T_T. Cuando se fue a casa de Axlin para despedirse de ella y le plantó un último beso madre mía, como quemaba el angst. Lo único es que el beso entre Rox y Xein fue algo innecesario.. solo me dejaría con mal sabor porque Rox acaba con el corazón roto.

(2) ella, pero también creo que es una buena forma de ver que a pesar de que conozcan a más personas en sus vidas, terminan encontrando el camino de vuelta al otro. una pena que la realidad sea más dura jajaja pero bueno, ha estado bien el primer libro. el malentendido quema mucho pero ahora tengo curiosidad de ver cómo se entera Xein de la verdad y si Axlin llega a saber la paliza que le metieron en el Bastión

me lo acabé! ajajja justo hoy con el apagón nacional aproveché para adelantar, que desde la última vez me dejó con un poco de bloqueo lector. la verdad es que recordaba odiar a Rox porque no quería que Xein tuviese más interacciones con personas que no fueran Axlin pero esta vez lo leo con una mente más abierta. Para ser justos Axlin también ha conocido a Dex (que de momento lo considero buena opción (1)

odio. a. Godrix. pero bueno sinceramente sin eso la trama no podía avanzar. igualmente uff odio los malentendidos, te dejan con un mal sabor de boca y encima si no lo resuelven bien al final te quedas igual. bueno hablando de xein, no lo recordaba tan orgulloso la verdad. es buen chico pero.. no es husband material. espero que axlin pueda resolver el malentendido cuanto antes (hasta el tercer libro nada)

jejeje ya he llegado a la parte de xein. creo recordar que el final del primer libro me iba a frustrar porque acaba con un gran malentendido pero buf. estaré dispuesta a leerlo otra vez para ver si el tercero me convence. creo que en 2022 sentí que le faltaba algo y fue muy apresurado. en fin, el plot de momento está muy interesante y además estoy teniendo en cuenta más detalles que la primera vez pasé por alto

madre mía, como es que llevo ya 60 pico páginas leídas? había olvidado lo bueno que es este libro. la construcción del mundo y la introducción de Axlin y sus traumas es descrita de manera muy llevadera y fácil de leer. casi quiero seguir leyendo y no dormir por lo mucho que me encanta. me siento como hace 5 años cuando lo leía por primera vez, este tipo de sensaciones solo te lo puede dar un buen libro

so first off. why are the chapters so DAMN LONG? got me dying to get through the first chapter.. 50 long ass pages (at least on digital) it’s crazy. anyway we’re getting to know all the boys which means a lot of backstory and filler details for at least the first quarter of the book. i hope i’m able to push it though, heard good stuff about this book. dunno what to expect

(2)you’re telling me ione caught elm’s eye just because she rode a horse and got mud on her boots like.. okay. anyways it wasn’t really of my liking and i hoped for more ravyn x elspeth content 😭 and in general i thought there would be a better conclusion, a good talk with elspeth’s father.. and where the hell is her stepmother and her daughters? ione and elspeth had to have a good conversation too..

4.5⭐️ i got teary during the farewell of Nightmare and Elspeth. dare i say that this alone brought up the final score of the book.. bc imo i still prefer the first book better. we were ROBBED from Ravyn x Elspeth moments, their reunion felt really UNDERWHELMING. and although i didn’t really dislike elm and ione, i’m sick of book plots where they fell in love from way before and for no reason apparent? like(1)

so who lied saying that the second book was even better than the first one?? i’m sorry but nothing can compare to the tension and banter ravyn and elspeth had on the first book dear loooord. i like elm’s humour, i do, but i don’t really see anything that would make me go crazy for him. i guess im really into gentlemen like ravyn.. (like this man asks permission to eat your p out!x-x). anyways decent so far

I literally DEVOURED this book. finished in one afternoon. so where do i start. ravyn and elspeth. their chemistry oh my god, the slow burn was so worth it. their scenes had me out of breath. elm is so fucking funny bro i never laughed so much with a character. and yeah the ending, totally didn’t see that coming. guess i’ll have to look for my happy ending in the second book.. if there is any.

SO i literally had to force myself to stop cuz i need to sleep now but UGH. THIS IS SO GOOD. SO SO GOOD. i love green flag men. I LOVE RAVYN. the tension is insane. i need them to smooch asap. anyways… im glad i’ve purchased this series in paperback. like i was kinda scared since i went into it blindly but mind you, the BEST thing that could ever happen to me. compare this with the cruel prince, like PLEASE LOL
