I just finished the prologue to this, and it was nice to get a much more in depth look at Hobbit society and the way the Shire is structured and organized. Also I love how we went into how Bilbo taking the ring in The Hobbit from Gollum lead to some very interesting consequences.

Compared to most satirical novels I’ve read which primarily satirize one subject. This is satirizing all the idiosyncrasies and faults of 1980s America. From specialized academia, consumer culture, the fear of death and the use of drugs that literally do not do anything but make everything worse.

Ok finally the fantasy stuff is actually starting to become more prevalent.
