Also, I don't care about the history of different areas of California. Get to the point. This book needs serious editing.

"Frederica [the ghost maid] drifted past the pranksters, seemingly oblivious to my struggle. She was carrying an armful of family photos that had been hanging in the living room and went to hang them in the middle of the hallway. The spot she chose did not actually contain a wall. So, each frame fell to the ground with a crash!"
