Chris Isaak gave an evocative vocal performance on this lonely anthem which resonated with every guy who ever opened up to a girl, thinking she was real, and had a heart. It will still be resonating with guys trying to stay warm out in the cold a hundred years from now — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20UpB...

For every man lucky enough to have known a wonderful girl like in this song, who at a low point in his life brought his heart back from the brink, and kept him from going under. The sweet melancholy memory lingers, and no matter how much time passes, never goes away —https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mlazl...

Reading this in actual print rather than Kindle, as I have every volume, and all Manga I read, but the Square Enix paperback edition isn't listed.

For anyone stuck in some town where they’re friendless and unwanted, and feel the urge to go, and never return. A beautiful song from Alison Krauss’s Lonely Runs Both Ways album — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5Wyy...

White Lace & Promises pays homage to both the old-school police procedurals of Ed McBain and Elizabeth Linington, and the sometimes raw and racy Paperback Originals.

White Lace & Promises is laced with old-school sexy music of that period, including the TLC tunes Diggin’ On You, Red Light Special, and Creep.

A terrific Bossa cover of Coldplay's Viva La Vida that brings out the actual melancholy of the song-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWj13...

This bittersweet music is playing during a scene in my upcoming Noir Shot, Highway 99. Set during the 1970s, work on it is going very slowly, due to how lonely and atmospheric it is, and how aching it is with feelings. It will be out later this year.

This lovely instrumental version of Once Upon a Time is spinning on a turntable during a tender moment in Highway 99 — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bTad...

The hard virtual slap in the face stings more when it’s from someone you've always treated great, even special, and always would — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fAmy...

Sharing some wonderful Nina Simone, a quietly sad song that's really about unrequited love -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmFCh...

“Nothing can ever prepare you for the eeriness of a great city emptied of humanity. In that small room in each of our souls where loneliness makes its home, our fear that we will end up alone and unloved is amplified a million times.” — Saturday’s Children

For an old friend who never made it out, and never made it home -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTZ9n...

“I don’t have to play nobody’s fool, and I won’t make no exception of you.”

I Don’t Have to Crawl is a cut from Roseann Cash’s terrific album, King’s Record Shop. The song was written by Rodney Crowell, so was originally about a girl stringing a guy along, but it works in the reverse with Roseanne’s evocative vocal performance. — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv4U5...

A young woman who has come to mean everything to Seth Halliday, leaves a vulnerable and deeply moving letter for Seth in his hotel room in Nicaragua, and a CD with this song on it. After he reads the letter, and plays the song, she becomes a part of his heart and soul, altering the course of his life forever, in THE DEADLY GREEN HILLS — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbHjj...

In Spain, Seth Halliday leaves a copy of this song on the pillow for the love of his life, so she will know how much he misses her while they're apart, in THE DEADLY GREEN HILLS — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtwLU...

Dan Fontaine’s especially lovely rendition of Henry Mancini’s gorgeous Lujon (Slow Hot Wind), a reminder of a few all too torturously brief moments close to heaven on Saturday afternoons — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khxLc...

It was Ted, he remembered, who could fill a room with “the most unalterable silences…He had a grey, hulking, brooding quality. What this did to Sylvia I’m not sure.” Baskin wondered whether Ted was the right kind of husband for a sensitive woman who needed, he felt, continual reassurance.

Plath dedicated her poem, Sculptor, to Leonard Baskin.

Sharing a fabulous remix I ran across of Henry Manicin's beautiful Lujon (Slow Hot Wind) -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYxwy...
