Finished with Part 1, focused on Tele’s journey! Remarkable different style than the first—reads much quicker. Interesting how Wilson changes the repetitive epithets for each character depending on the context (Mendelsohn was a stickler for keeping them consistent). It does add nice variety, but makes the poem feel less formal.

Started Wilson’s translation! Read her intro and translator’s note today. Her style is totally distinct from Mendelsohn’s (poor David is sick of hearing me babble about how different even the page layout is, but WOW, it’s like a whole new book) so I’m very excited to dive in :)

Made it through the unofficial Part 2 of the book! Odysseus talks through his travels, which is cool because we hear his voice directly instead of Homer’s. Starting with Book 3, we head back to Ithaca!

Just finished Book 4, the end of the first section that follows Telemachus! It leaves us on such a cliffhanger. Enjoying it so much so far!
