This is a fabulous novel. I love the historical nature of it which comes to the fore when the author mentions real life events, demonstrating how interwoven the narrative is with history. There are some questions I have about certain scenes, when Murashige is explaining how different killings occurred, because I am unable to keep up with his explanations. I also like how paranoid the novel gets!

Really quite good. I don’t want the book to end, because then it’ll be the end of the trilogy and I’ve grown somewhat attached to the characters. I’m trying to figure out who the killer is (if there even is one), though I’m sure it won’t be obvious. Tommy seems to obvious as a suspect, so I’m thinking it’ll either be Cladaugh or Senan, though I’m not sure of the motives for Senan yet.

It’s a bit evolved from the first one, with new characters being introduced as plot devices essentially. French’s control of dialogue and double entendres is wild, especially with regards to her sensitive approach to Irish humor/conversation. So far so good…

A bit of a slow burn but I’m a fan so far
