This book is tearing me apart. It’s so good but so heart wrenching

The writing immediately drew me in. But I’m not sure if it’s because it’s just not terrible or if it’s because it’s exceptional. The bar is so low these day

This author keeps introducing information as an afterthought. It’s so jarring. Braxton being a virgin even after having a previous mate is just randomly brought up in conversation in passing. The fact that they can suddenly SIFT THROUGH EACH OTHERS THOUGHTS is mentioned all Willy nilly as an afterthought. wtf?? The star rating is steadily declining.

Ok here’s my thing. When MCs have family that die before the series starts, it doesn’t hit as hard because we didn’t know them. We just know that this person was important to the MC and they’re sad.

But with Gareth POV chapters sprinkled thru the series, we get to know him and eventually love him. So now his death is tough.

I really hope Gareth isn’t actually dead but I have a sick feeling he is 😞
