Heavier than what I expected.

This is my third time reading these through. The allegories are timeless. I was thrilled to find this note from the author to his god-daughter, "Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again." I feel old enough now.

Best quote so far, "Because there haven't been any advances," Malcolm said. "Not really. 30,000 years ago, when men were doing cave paintings at Lascaux, they worked 20 hours a week to provide themselves with food and shelter and clothing. The rest of the time, they could play, or sleep, or do whatever they wanted. And they lived in a natural world, with clean air, clean water, beautiful trees and sunsets."

Currently reading about spheres. Miraculous!

Great, so far! I think this passage helps explain the author's point of view: "the only possible guarantee of the future is responsible behavior in the present. When supposed future needs are used to justify misbehavior in the present, as is the tendency with us, then we are both perverting the present and diminishing the future."

I am restarting this book. It's been a while since I began it, and the info builds on itself, of course. I really like it and it's very interesting to me.

It's going to take forever for me to get through this book! because it's so good! After every chapter about a saint, I read 1-3 books recommended by the author. I have thoroughly enjoyed his recommendations and also his insights.

After reading several biographies of Joan, I can well appreciate the research Twain did to write his book. He considers this his best work, and I agree!

You have to be experiencing this in your life to really appreciate the authors experience. I am rolling on the floor! I am also encouraged that I am NOT alone.

I am staying up too late to read this book! Hard to put down, as I said earlier. Some of it is hard to read, because it tells about the horrible things done to African Americans during the 60's in the south. Very shocking.......
