WT....... FUN!!! "Umar’s misogynist tendencies were apparent from the moment he ascended to the leadership of the Muslim community. He tried (unsuccessfully) to confine women to their homes and wanted to prevent them from attending worship at the mosque." I AM IN SHOCKED!

Okay, I think I need to stop here. I believe this is coming either from a Shia perspective or the author has some sort of grudge or something!!

"The air was humid and four electric fans whirred loudly, pointing at different parts of the room. This was a former colonial building with high ceilings pand the manager, Anwar Kazmi, liked to remark that the British clearly hadn't been thinking of the Karachi heat when they built these excessively tall rooms."

I feel overwhelmed by Karachi City and its background. The author described the background/history of the city as a formal karachiite I read and I felt overwhelmed with emotion. I understood everything thing she is saying in this book.
