Nothing like reading about the violence of the American west on my summer vacation.

2/4 Othello

I went into this one virtually blind and was mildly surprised. I don’t think I understood it as much as hamlet but I think that’s a good thing, I didn’t have any preconceived notions of grandeur (besides it being Shakespeare)

I won’t pretend I understood Hamlet completely on the first read through, but I did find it super intriguing. All of Hamlet’s monologues have so much to them and I really want to look deeper. I really liked “O, What A Rogue And Peasant Slave Am I” (“To Be Or Not To Be” too ofc).
I think this Shakespeare guy is onto something.

Not one for memoirs but I find Michael J Fox’s story so inspiring so I’m really looking forward to reading this.

Finally to chapter 2…

“In his forty-third year William Stoner learned what others, much younger, had learned before him: that the person one loves at first is not the person one loves at last, and that love is not an end but a process through which one person attempts to know another.”

Not even done yet and this is a favorite already. I foresee a 5 star rating in the near future.

On page 21 he starts talking about how we’ve never experienced true reality. He says that our brains thinks of how a “room” should look, sound smell, and feel like and we only think that, therefore being our reality. Idk how to feel about that 💀
