I read a few pages and gave up. I may try again sometime but I have other books I'm interested in. This seems like sci-fi or fantasy and I'm not fond of either.

Here's a line from the book:
"Viet Nam was a country where America was trying to make people stop being communists by dropping things on them from airplanes."

Vonnegut is like no other writer. This is a strange and wonderful story that has the thinnest of plots and some very strange sections but it is a joy to read someone who is in complete control of the language and his story.

So much of this is familiar but it is fascinating to read. Having been a member of the church at that time in Boston, a lot of the places are familiar. It is shocking to realize just how corrupt the church was (is?). It is quite true that the Cardinal held that kind of power in Boston at that time.

An interesting novella (so far).

This is a fascinating book but I am reading it very slowly. It is easy to get confused as the Indonesian names for people and cities is unusual.

Off to a good start...

I am a fan of Roland Merullo. This one is starting ok but seems a bit contrived. We will see.

This is not my usual read but I am really liking it.

Came in at the library so I dropped what I was reading to read this.

I have read all of Vlautin's other books and this one seems good so far.

This was recommended by Goodreads based on something I read. It reads like a plot summary and the characters are flat. I am hoping that it will get better.

I just started this. Pelecanos if great with dialog. As with any short story collection, some stories are better than others.

This is a really fascinating book.

Bryson can find what is interesting in anything and make you want to stay up reading about it. You get your money's worth every time.

I was looking for a good short book to get to my goal of 52 books. This is good read and I lived in the area described for almost 35 years. Raymo can write.

This is an interesting psychological thriller set in Norway --Scandinavian Noir.
