these characters are genuinely good people and that shocks me to this day. yes, they have sinned, but they manage to build healthy relationships and care for those around them in selfless ways. alex was mad at diaz 'cause he broke his vows, when that affected nothing but his own life. diaz blames himself for sleeping with vigga but realizes this is not her fault at all and he'd be stupid to treat her badly. very cute

sunny and alex are a hell of a duo if im being honest, not only strategically — 'cause theyre both considerably good at furtively slithering around folk unnoticed — but romantically as well! they should kiss tbh, that whole trust thing is as a good as a proper love declaration. and its clear to me they care for each other very deeply. WHERE ARE VIGGA AND DIAZ? ARE THEY SAFE? HAVE THEY LEFT THE BEACH? IM CURIOUS!!

never thought jakob and rikard would make a hell of a duo (in spite of loving them both so much id marry the two of 'em tbh), but it's clear to me rikard knows how to seize his moment and jakob learned how to tag along for the benefits of all. sunny is genuinely so brave and smart i really have nothing negative to say about her — apart from the fact she and alex haven't kissed yet. the couples are finally forming! vigga and diaz have a very particular chemistry i thoroughly enjoy, as theyre complete opposites in every sense. sunny and alex are so sweet and i really need them to kiss 'cause sunny is the loyal person alex needs and alex is the kind person sunny needs. baptiste and balthazar are enemies but lovers too (at least on his side lol). jakob and rikard are both my husbands btw theyre hot

even if the humour in this book is a bit too mugc, im enjoying the character dynamics. whenever sunny hides behind jakob or vigga refers to diaz as 'her monk' im screaming. anyway, the fight against this son of eudoxia's is going in a direction i didnt expect: the devils are losing, and their lives are more in risk than ever with the fire sunny accidentally began. hope baptiste and vigga save the day. wheres rikard?!

oh god, i really love jakob and everything about his character. he hates himself and the very (grim) dark things he has done in the past more than he hates the vast majority of enemies he has faced. sunny is such a sweetheart and it breaks my heart to know her worse fear is not being seen by anyone in any way, good or bad. i knew balthazar would fail on breaking the binding, rikard was too calm. alex was badass yum!!

man i absolutely love it when rikard uses his glamour for little things, such as making alex act more like a princess. makes me think of how dangerous he can be when he wants to.. and that he knows balthazar wont be able to break the binding as he isn't doing anything to stop him. i worry for vigga, jakob, sunny and baptiste though, cant have them killing one another at this point of the whole ordeal. sunny is sweet!

i feel really bad for vigga. seems to me she killed her mom after she was bitten, and thats why she'd rather not visit the past. she has quite the complex thought process from time to time, just isn't too good at expressing what shes thinking. rikard is genuinely such an icon and i would kill for a POV of his. god this book had me scared, thinking both jakob and michael had died (and theyre currently my favorites). dont think alex will be able to get out of this under any circumstances, if im being honest, but it could be worse. she travels with some mildly reasonable folk: jakob is a decent man, diaz tries his best, baptiste is useful, rikard is wise and sunny seems loyal to me. balthazar and vigga are a bit suspicious..

okay the pope is literally a child, shes 10 and how iconic is that HAHA. her words hold intense meaning tho, as its pretty obvious whatever spell she cast on the devils works and well (balthazar had to prove that to us like 10 times. dont doubt his abilities but my dude has to snap out of it). i need to see rikard at this prime. the church is TERRIFYING in so many ways. alex and sunny will be good friends i daresay!

okay, so the actual devils are these really weird creatures kept in cells beneath the church and only used when extremely necessary, it would seem. thats very creepy, and i believe itd most definitely be considered a sin if we think of it... well, if brother diaz is scared of being accompanied by a vampire, a disappearing elf and a magician, i doubt he'll survive the horrors he will most likely have to face soon HAHA

damn brother diaz really got himself and his remarkable talents into a deal he really couldn't ever escape. seems to me the cardinal is guaranteeing him a whole lot of fame 'cause he'll sin a whole lot and probably die lmao (and she sounds a lot like glokta so that was fun). i have a vague feeling alex will get used to being princess sooner than she expects, as i have no doubts she is the rightful heir to the throne

that was fun. i always enjoy seeing POV's of inquisitors, especially those who are so thoroughly shocked at the fact their job makes so many people miserable. the irony of this whole tale was incredibly done, with two of the characters we saw doing the "dirty work" being condemned in the court of people — who, for once, had the right people in the dock in spite of everything (morality going to shit obviously)

oh my god, orso was in this story, being as depressed and mildly miserable as always (holy shit i miss him so much why did he have to fucking die?) then again, it was a fun tale, interesting to see the process of the making of a diamond — from a boy who risked his life to gain profit from this hidden stone to bayaz disapproving deeply of it, in spite of its size. ALSO WE GOT AN EATER POV DAMN!!!!

raaahhh we saw savine and zuri again!!! loved how the whole process of the making of a dress was presented, showing how it involves a bunch of different people with very distinct occupations. not to mention the intense criticism behind most of the little POV's shown, from freid having to burn a dress she'd kill to own to sabra noticing that much hadn't changed from when she was enslaved or a simple worker

this is giving me the ick wtf. tella is so stupid, so selfish and self-absorbed — not to mention she's only happy with a man. legend does nothing other than acting sexy and mysterious. i cant fucking do this why am i reading this
