I really enjoy the fact that humanity has fallen from what they think was imperfection into a real dystopia. Very scary this was foreseen in 1950. Especially when cancel culture seems eerily similar to book burning.

I love how I’ll be lost initially, but then the scene plays out, and I can make everything out perfectly.

I like Dr. Fung’s take on obesity. At first, insulin and cortisol seem to be the main culprits, but the real trigger is frequent eating and diets high in refined carbs. Low-carb eating is hard to sustain, and some carb-rich cultures stay lean. Thus, it’s not carbs themselves, but refined ones that spike insulin and keep it high. Constant eating makes it worse, locking the body into fat storage mode.

The foreword already hints at the model that Dr. Fung puts forward. Something I’m already familiar with, but I’ve forgotten as time has passed. I first remember related approach’s in 2017–I hope to return to these theories!

So far, all my previous ideas and thoughts on human connection and communication are called into question. Very insightful.
