I feel bad for Gogol, whose insecurity is so clear.

This book is truly so beautiful and riveting. The characters feel so real.

There are too many good quotes in this book.

I have a little into the second chapter, but I love this book. The writing is vivid and beautiful. Already, I am invested in these characters’ lives. The culture shock also make me smile.

I am only in the introductory pages, but already, I find James Clear’s philosophy is impactful.

I am so close with this book. Malcolm is strangely self-aware, and it is a joy to read about his life and evolution.

I never thought I would cry for the enemy.

This story is so tragic. I hate to admit it, but I feel some sympathy for Fuchai in spite of his brutality. I love that the characters are complex.

I can already see the tragic ending.

I am truly captivated by this story. I’m enjoying it deeply.

Who doesn’t love a good redemption story?

This book is long, but very interesting. I am impressed by Malcom’s intelligence, which I think has gone unrecognized.

I’m reading this book at rapid speed, but in all honesty, I don’t mind. Malcolm’s writing is so eloquent and so descriptive. I can empathize with a man whom I have never met. I feel enlightened just reading this book.

Somehow, I’m reading this?? Ann Liang never disappoint, though, so I manage to despite my busy schedule!

Malcom X’s perspective is very fascinating. I sympathize with his situation.

Such a beautiful ending about the cycle of hate and violence.

I may be a nerd for reading this, but I swear this book is really cute. Like actually. It’s something super light to read before bed.

I enjoy reading the recipes with my mom. I also credit Kylie with helping me overcome my prejudice against white rice.

So much has happened. I hate Esteban Trueba more, but I can’t help but feel a little sympathy for him at times. I’m seeing more of the parallels with the real history of Chile.

This book is really good, but speed reading for HISP makes it less enjoyable.

Clara is a beautiful, innocent soul.

This is my favorite book I have read this semester. The imagery is beautiful, and this book pulls lots of emotions out of me. It’s engaging and enjoyable, even though I wanted to ripped Esteban out of the book and personally strangle him.

I’m honestly sad that I have to read this for school in such a short time period. The writing is beautiful, and magical setting is amazing. I feel like I can’t enjoy it as much unfortunately.

This is one of my favorite HISP books I’ve read.

I’m starting to really enjoy this book. At first, I found Cyrus and Leah’s banter a bit annoying, but I’ve grown fond of their dynamic. Also, I can relate to Leah a lot - that feeling that you’re vain, but also that your vanity is something you can escape.

It took a little bit, but I’m starting to really love this book. I’m glad that Ann Liang doesn’t stick to her same character types every time.

I really hope I don’t end up disliking Leah.

I’m really liking this book so far! Leah seems like a fresh character, and I’m excited for the story to progress. Not my favorite Ann Liang book right now, though.

I’m stopping this book. I just cannot get through it, maybe the outdated topics?
