"now our minds are one"
In this section, she argues that by cultivating an attitude of gratitude in a society reliant on creating perceived scarcity to sustain a ravaging and destructive economy IS radical.

Excellently researched and sincere piece on rewilding's viability covering issues of UK land ownership, shifting baseline syndrome and the current evidence for rewilding's potential to transform. Makes me regretful that the word 'rewilding' has a slightly bad rep at the moment - think there's a lot of nuance to the subject but people are focusing too much on the words connotations rather than the thing itself!

"the Europeans used to think that geese and swans wintered on the moon"
Nature's beauty seems intense enough to hurt Dillard. It's the kind of writing that makes you astounded people thought to write like that. It's a bit like looking at an impressionist painting of a landscape, and recognising it, but being utterly taken away at how they thought to convey it like that.
