Wow, its still a little difficult keeping the characters straight--and I'm assuming Dr. Zhivago doesn't realize (yet) that Strelnikov is Pasha Antipova? Some of the passages are gorgeous but the narrative seems to jump around so much.

Yeah, since I'm reading in fits and starts (and being 53, will I ever read this novel again? I hope so but . . .) I am doubling back and (re)reading chapters as I go e.g., 'Father Ferapont,' 'In the Dark,' (recounts Dmitry's actions at this father's the night of the murder) . . .

I decided I better just (re)read this cover to cover and then double back

Got to read this section again though--

I expect this to take me about 4 weeks for a cover to cover read, and then, of course, (re)reading of key sections. Esp. linking essays from Collected Philosophical Papers as I work through it.

I read the three short stories. Novella I'll get too next week,

I am resuming a philosophic writing project I started 6 years ago. The chapter I'm drafting now is on Socrates. I've read the Lysis (on friendship), the Symposium, the Apology and trust, I've read/ taught Euthyphro and Meno enough times. Parts of the Meno always demand careful reading--others can be breezed through when you know it thoroughly. I want my Goodreads credit for all this!

I have resumed a writing project so the time I expect to devote to 'pleasure' reading will diminish-- very much enjoying this but its going to take a while!
