Decided to take a break from lesbian lit fic to try my first Stephen King novel, and boy howdy, was this the perfect starting point for me! Very strong, mostly lovable/relatable cast of female characters. Fantastic pacing, and I'm loving the parallel storylines converging. Definitely a few references to previous King books that have gone over my head, but everything necessary to this story is understandable so far!

I DNFed this a while ago, around 1/3 of the way through, because I realized I wasn't in the headspace to read about cheating. However, I recently picked it up again and now I'm absolutely *dragging* myself through it. FMC has been self-harming almost every single chapter. Quotation-less conversations are becoming increasingly confusing. But beautiful character writing, very show-not-tell. I appreciate that, at least.
