I finished the first chapter. I’m going to chalk up some of my distaste for this novel to unimaginative translation and not to the original author, but I don’t know if I can finish this book and honestly say it was enjoyable. I’ve been trying to force myself to slog through. The writing is so simplistic and repetitive.
