Kal has so much emotional baggage. And now Moash too. I don't like where this is headed. Shallan keeping us entertained with interludes into her trauma too. Yay.

EV just got married to her fifth hubby. At the stage, where I am wondering how our protagonist is related to EV.

I'm only 10% into the book and I already wish that Evelyn Hugo was a real person. I'm loving the character's honesty.

This is such an interesting premise. Really enjoying it so far. Would definitely recommend.

What a thoroughly enjoyable read. The humour is just wonderful. We need more books like these in the world and I have never enjoyed Alexander McCall Smith's books more than when I stumbled on the latest novel from the 44 Scotland Street series. I am hoping to check more of these out. Honestly, a very refreshing page turner.

Just finished chapter 15. What a great chapter, showing how strangers pay kindness forward.

When I picked UP WoR again last night, I didn't realise that I would end up reading so much. Too much excitement. Saw The White Assassin again and this time he faced off with Kal. Didn't realise it would happen so soon in Book 2. And Shallan, she finally got to Shattered Plains. Yipeee.

It's been over a year since I read the Epic of Gilgamesh, but haven't got round to read the essays in this book. I feel like I should read the poem again....

Although we are slowly getting Shallan's backstory, generally the Shallan chapters are quite dull in comparison to Kal chapters. Onwards and upwards.

The last few chapters were so good. I think again, Kaladin's chapter stood out the most. Our boy faced off with Adolin while Adolin had the blade. Admittedly, Kal did fall back somewhat on his secret strength, but it didn't help him too much. And we learn a bit more of Shallan's backstory. Not bad.

Crazy how insidious totalitarianism is.

It is at the halfway point, a massive truth drops. As a reader, you start to piece two and two together.

A great starting point in understanding the fraught relationship between Hong Kong and China.

Part 1 ended on a really great cliffhanger. Into the Interludes now.

Halfway through the book and the story keeps getting interesting. Such a great book.

Xyz character is apparently dead. Which doesn't pass muster. Author needs to work on writing credible death scenes. Skill issue.

No positive male role models...

I do wonder, what would the story be like, if Harry Dresden, the protagonist, was competent? He is so inept, that it doesn't even make for fun reading.

Just started this book and I am really appreciating the writing style. Barely 50 pages in, I can't predict much but what little elements of magical realism I've read, I'm liking.
