Very enjoyable, at the part of Voviod’s house arrest, seeing how Wallachia is now under control of the Moldovian court. Its very fun to read the legends around the Prince, and as the author is cynical about these myths, present a more subdued ‘real’ version of the Impaler. The Prince is living in luxury within Mattias’ court… Not sure how Corvinus’ realpolitik strategy is going to work with this…

-and the ethical concern of recombinant DNA

I found these parts all very interesting, I may have zoned out on some parts while reading on the bus, but I can feel the passion behind the author's words.

In “In the Sum of the Parts, There are Only Parts” the author discusses the reproductive incapabilities within different species. I found it incredibly sad when Mukherjee shared a small interaction with his father around the word “Gene”— “Abheder dosh” a flaw in identity is what his father thought of Moni, Rajesh and Jagu. So good so far. I absolutely loath Galton for twisting Mednel’s intentions. I like the way author’s prose and everything about presenting history more intimately. The book discusses eugenics and the rise of eugenics ideas.

No words, I was hooked from the beginning, but I felt like I merely consumed this book as entertainment, not as a novel work of art. I enjoyed this book a lot, to the world-building, to the most simplest analogies and metaphors. Very metaphorical as well, that is to be said, I don't remember much from it besides the last page, and that last page hit me hard.

Maybe when I'm older and more intelligent, I will get this book. For now, I hated it.
