sheenewood68 is reading The Lasting Harm: Witnessing the Trial of Ghislaine Maxwell
Even the broadly good left media set up to respond to the Epstein crimes has been poor on foregrounding the stories and lives of survivors - and no less focused on powerful men then more obviously prurient media elsewhere has been. This is a really necessary corrective to that, and it is hard to come away feeling that the Maxwell trial was anything but a limited hangout and enormously unsuccessful damage limitation.

Good! Should have ended with the Before the Dawn shows, and the prose in Leah Kardos’ book is definitely still the best KB writing, but a lovely and well judged overview.

Knew I'd like this, put off reading it because of that, but did not expect it would be one of the best non-fiction books of all time.
