Hating a character (tv or book) and thinking most people love them and then finding out they’re almost universally hated (I feel seen)

I’m looking at you, Lucas Scott

They say never judge a book by its cover but I’m still put off by

- PICTURES OF PEOPLE ON THE COVER. Throws off the whole vibe

- the blurb being a list of tropes

- an ugly font

- pages with weird texture

- the characters kissing on the cover (not a fan of stories that revolve 100% on the romance, you see)

- the cover being the show poster (🤮)

Okay unpopular opinion but miscommunication tropes are STRESSFUL, and not in a positive way, in a are-you-two-really-so-stupid, tearing my hair out kind of way.
