This poor book has been neglected for weeks so I thought why not keep reading… nope nope cant do it, been crying for hours nonstop. This book is gonna ruin me 🫠

this is cute, and I see myself in Daniel, the main character. But the warning, as I like to call it, is presented at the first page into the book stating that it won’t end up cute.. 🥲

This book better picks up quick or else, it will be shelved with regret.. am I experiencing a bad case of word vomiting? Too much details upon details go into a character or a scene, and it seems rather unnecessary? Like we got it, let’s move on please otherwise I’m moving on from this book.

Looks like things are getting a little easier for Miles… maybe.

the mộre i flip the page, the more angrier I get.. along with anger, I would find myself feeling intense heat in my brain and nothing but numbness in my body like im vulnerable. I’ll keep reading in hope for the men’s heads to be served on a platter, and for their eyes, tongues , and teeth for soup.

And just like that, a break is needed… but unfortunately the imagery of what i just read of what would happen to women if they’re still not obedient or submissive to men is.. well, the best way to describe it, my brain is on fire, and im feeling nothing but numbness right now. How fitting to our world but it’s not a new tragic case or event unfortunately.

Poor Benji… the guilt is extremely heavy, and he’s only 16.. for what íts worth, im glad that he is able to be where he truly belongs and also, trans lizard made me tear up a bit. Cute :)

Jesus… and no puns intended. not a book for the weakest, I would say, but the author’s writing is horrifying (I mean the genre IS horror) yet I can’t or wont stop reading. Little break for now especially the last chapter I just read but I will continue.. just gotta process ít first…. Great job so far, Andrew Joseph white, and I will be reading more of your books.

Darius is definitely someone that I can relate to when it comes to being frustrated of not knowing too well or none at all about the culture that our immigrant parent(s) are from, especially since America has such a strong influence. I can definitely relate the wonderful feelings and opportunities he is having being in his mother’s home country for first time ever, and has the sense of belonging.

The author retells his life story and events in a form of a letter to his mother, who may or may not understand his writings due to language barrier. I find the author’s writings rather a bit confusing yet deep and poetic like I would have to stop reading and ponder for a bit.

Read the book while playing The hobbit/lotr lofi music in the background .. you won’t regret it :)

Exciting reading so far.. feels like I’m actually on the adventure along with the characters. You can definitely tell the difference between the book and the movie, which is quite disappointing. Books > Movies :)
