I felt really sad for both Lydia and her father, James, whenever he had given her the "How To Make Friends" book because Lydia felt hurt by receiving this and James was also hurt because he just wanted to help her by giving her this book: "Lydia felt her her heart in her chest like a pellet of ice, sliding down out of reach. 'I have friends, Daddy,' she said, though she knew this was a lie" (Ng 176).

The fact that Jack keeps on avoiding Nath stood out to me this week. "He looks away, quickly, as if pretending he hasn't seen either of them and walks faster" (Ng 121). Jack continuing to avoid Nath must mean that he has something to do with his sister's death and is scared of him finding out.

In the book I'm reading, I love how part of it is a love story and how it's about two people who are different coming together to form a relationship: "Something inside her said, He understands. What it's like to be different" (Ng 36).
